Empowering Voices Less Heard

Sound Vision's impact stretches across Bath, Northeast Somerset and Greater London. Our programmes and people work tirelessly to achieve two key outcomes:

  1. Enhance career trajectories, employability and re-engagement with education by building self-esteem, and teaching industry-specific, transferable, and soft skills.

  1. Improve mental health through connection and empowerment.

One way we accomplish this is through our Alternative Provision and After School Training programs. We work with our training partners in Midsomer Norton, Bath, and Wandsworth to teach skills for audio, radio and podcasting in a studio environment. Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities qualified trainers provide support to young people of all abilities, helping them build skills and self-belief.

Sound Vision's Impact on Community Media

Our training partner, Somer Valley FM in Midsomer Norton, has recognised several members of the Sound Vision team for their exceptional contributions. Awards were presented by Mohammed Saddiq, Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, and Rob Beckley, High Sheriff of Somerset. The Lord-Lieutenant represents the King in the county, while the High Sheriff supports third sector organisations and promotes crime prevention.

The awards celebrate outstanding contributions to community media. Among the recipients were our lead trainer, Maggie Harding; administrator, Sue Roberts; trustees, Maxine Stride and Chris Watt; and Yvonne Bignall from the Sound Vision advisory group. Their dedication has been crucial in establishing Sound Vision, and it is wonderful to see their commitment to empowering individuals and communities acknowledged. With their support, we have trained over 600 individuals, delivered more than 70 certificated qualifications, and made a significant impact. Previously, Technical Lead Pete Helmore and former Chair of Trustees Michael Gorman were also recognised for their contributions. Many thanks to Richard Skyes for photographing the presentations on the day, and commemorating the special moments.

CEO Awarded by High Sheriff of Somerset

The High Sheriff's Awards recognise exceptional service to the county. We are delighted that our CEO, Dom Chambers, has been honoured by the High Sheriff of Somerset, Mr. Robert Beckley QPM, for his outstanding contributions.

Many individuals have contributed to Sound Vision’s significant impact, and it is a pleasure to honour them. However, Dom deserves special recognition as the catalyst for this success. His contributions to the community are remarkable, and I am delighted to present this award to him.”

Robert Beckley QPM, High Sheriff of Somerset.

The High Sheriff highlighted Dom's exemplary leadership and commitment to empowering voices less heard through Sound Vision's inclusive training programmes.

I am immensely proud to serve as Chair of the Sound Vision CIO. Dom Chambers and the team have done extraordinary work, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work and dedication."

Phil Gibbons, Chair of Trustees.
