Our vision is a society with equal opportunities for all.
We empower individuals and communities through personal development, education, creativity and communications.
Sound Vision was founded in 2017 by Dom Chambers, a professional broadcaster and a former arts student.
From an uneven educational background, where the threat of exclusion was never far away, he forged a way forward through his natural levels of creativity which found outlets through visual arts, writing and broadcast media. From early childhood, Dom was driven by a strong sense of humanitarian mission. He first considered how encouraging creativity may have a charitable purpose while at Art College in the 1980s.
Having experienced the positive impact of creativity and communication skills on his own life, Dom sought to bring that to others. The charity was launched to build on the training outcomes achieved by Somer Valley FM, a community radio station with educational purposes he launched in 2008.
Through training, we offer solutions to significant social challenges around lack of opportunities, loneliness, isolation, and regional disparity. Our skills-based learning programmes are inclusive, supporting neurodiversity, learning disabilities, mental health challenges and those seeking employment.
We are united by our shared vision, and strive to hold true to our core values:
-
Empowerment
Inspiring and enabling people to fulfil their potential.
-
Resilience
Strength through knowledge, skill development and connection.
-
Inclusion
Diversity of people and thought.
We have three complementary service lines seeking to empower people of all ages, with a strong legacy and focus on young people. The Sound Vision team is equipped with the certifications, experience and compassion needed to support those with higher levels of need. Our doors are open to everyone, and we also help people who have self-improvement or employability goals.
In all cases, we seek to build confidence, self-belief, wellbeing and resilience by encouraging creativity through our education and development programmes.
