Arts Awards now at Sound Vision!
Creativity is central to the Sound Vision mission and the day-to-day approach to training, but why is this our focus? There are many benefits to incorporating creativity, here are our top three:
Wellbeing: Creativity is an excellent outlet for stress and can improve physical and mental health, including reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Self-expression: It allows people to express themselves and their thoughts, feelings, and ideas in unique and meaningful ways. This is particularly beneficial for the neurodivergent who can have challenges around social communication and interaction.
Personal growth: Engaging in creative activities can uncover new talents, and interests and develop transferable skills. Problem-solving, for example, can be honed by approaching challenges from new and innovative perspectives, leading to creative solutions.
At Sound Vision, we encourage our trainees to be brave, and bold and express themselves creatively. The team relish seeing these benefits in our trainees as they practice.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Sound Vision can now offer certified qualifications to reward these creative endeavours!
We are delivering Arts Awards qualifications to trainees aged 25 and under. Arts Awards are managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England and are designed to support young people develop creativity, essential skills, and grow as artists. Students and young people who register for the award will work with our Arts Award Adviser and trainer, Maggie Harding. We work to develop trainees' creativity in media and communications, whilst aligning with the Arts Awards framework.
Bronze Arts Award focuses on arts participation and experiencing arts events.
Silver Arts Award takes the student on a journey into the professional art world. They gain experience and knowledge that can also help them progress with further education and employment.
Participants will also learn task management, how to work effectively as part of a team, peer support, and practical media skills. They will gain leadership skills and practice collaboration, for example when working on their Bronze award they are asked to share an arts skill with other trainees. Whilst developing these important life skills trainees build their confidence, self-esteem, and wellbeing.
“
It has always been Sound Vision's ambition to offer certificated qualifications that evidence the skills, experience, and work of our trainees. We feel that Arts Awards are the best way of recognising achievements of all abilities. Having attended Art College and felt the benefits personally, I could not be more pleased that we are now a registered Arts Award Centre delivering Bronze and Silver Arts Awards. These stimulate young people's creative and technical flare helping with their mental wellbeing, education, and progression into employment and a life of their choosing."
Dom Chambers, CEO, Sound Vision
