Pathway to Employment
Sound Vision offers customised learning for all ages and abilities in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. Pathway to Employment is open to anyone up to the age of 25 who is looking to develop their confidence and skills in the context of gaining employment or progressing a career. We welcome professionals looking to broaden their experience and skills, first-time job seekers, and everyone in between. Focusing on employability, we use a mix of workshops, mentoring, traineeships and work placements to hone interview skills, CV crafting, proficiency with LinkedIn and confidence in the workplace.
Our mentoring services link the career aspirational to industry professionals to forge supportive relationships that help mentees fulfil their potential. Typically, this involves a weekly meeting, either remote or in-person, to advise and monitor progress towards achieving career goals. Mentoring for many different career paths is possible, including finance, business, marketing and media.
We also offer work placements for 16-19-year-olds without a progression plan, who need to be in some sort of training or education. We provide practical experience in a workplace in a safe, supported and structured environment. We focus on getting trainees work-ready and then identifying possible next steps, which could include apprenticeship, employment or further education.
Pathway to Employment also includes work placements open to all age groups and customised to need. Our work placements are not restricted to those in education – we empower those seeking new experiences or breaking into new industries as well as formal work placements for school, further education or university students. On request, we partner directly with schools, colleges and universities to offer work placements in journalism, media, business and marketing. An example is our supported work placements for Fosse-Way School (Specialist Autism Support Services), where four students over 16 participate in training within a live studio environment.
Our inclusive approach to career guidance can be particularly beneficial for those with mental health challenges such as anxiety or low self-esteem.
