Only with your help can we continue empowering voices less heard
Times are tough! Which is probably why we’ve had an increase in demand for our services lately, especially our youth projects. Our programmes are designed to tackle some of the UK’s most pressing social issues around mental health, loneliness, challenging home lives and lack of opportunities. These issues are on the rise, and we are needing to grow to meet the demand.
This is why Sound Vision is launching its first annual appeal to raise essential funds that will help the charity secure its ongoing operations and help those in need in new locations.
It may not be surprising that the UK is facing significant social and economic challenges, but the stats may shock you. According to ONS as of August 2024, the youth unemployment rate stands at 14.8%, up from 12.1%. The COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t helped, leading to job losses and reduced opportunities for young people entering the job market. Skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are highly valued by employers. Building these skills is essential to help young people navigate these challenges and secure meaningful employment, and Sound Vision can help:
In Sound Academy, trainees explore creativity in audio, while making radio and podcasts in a studio environment.
In Sound Music, they build performance confidence, develop music and production skills and learn from industry professionals.
Alongside unemployment, mental health issues are also on the rise. NHS England reported that one in five young people aged 8 to 25 had a probable mental disorder in 2023. Confidence-building activities and supportive environments like ours play an important role by offering a sense of purpose and self-worth. By ensuring a warm-hearted welcome in safe, inclusive studio spaces, Sound Vision helps young people build confidence while developing those critical employability skills.
“
We do everything we can to keep costs low, so that all charitable income can make the greatest difference to those who benefit from our services. Everyone in the Sound Vision family, paid or volunteer, is driven by a strong sense of compassion. We strive to create a level playing field of opportunity, so people get a fair chance irrespective of their starting point. Our team provide a warm-hearted welcome to our unique studio environments and respect all abilities, so everyone can thrive.”

With demands growing, we need your help to continue our services and expand our inclusive, life-changing training opportunities. Where would your money go? Donations enable us to fund our incredible SEND trainers and keep our training accessible to all. We don’t charge for any of our programmes and we want to keep it that way. Social mobility remains a significant challenge in the UK with many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds struggling to access opportunities, so it is essential we have the lowest barriers to entry.
Donate now, you can make a significant difference to the lives of young people. Only with your help can we continue empowering voices less heard.
